Ganden Samye trekking

Ganden and Samye is famous pilgrimage route situated in high altitude areas. Ganden is situated at (4,180 m) height where as Samye is situated a bit lower altitude at 3,540 m) As,Ganden is situated 45 km East of Lhasa on the Highway that follows the south bank of the Kyi Chu to Medro Gongkar. This place is one of the most beautiful sites in central Tibet, which is considered to be an abode of Champa, the future Buddha. The monastery was perched on the ridge called Gokpo Ri, the site was chosen by Tsong Lhapa in (1357-1419) for his first meditation where the monastery was built later. This is one of the great monasteries out of six others, built by Gelukpa sect. The trek provides a superb means of access to explore the Tibet’s first monastery and an institution founded in the 8th Century.
